The 1800 United States presidential election was held from October 31 to December 3, 1800. The election was a contest between Democratic-Republican Party candidate Thomas Jefferson and Federalist Party candidate incumbent President John Adams. Thomas Jefferson emerged as the winner, securing 73 electoral votes to John Adams’ 65 electoral votes.
