The 1828 United States presidential election was held from October 31 - December 2, 1828. The election was a contest between National Republican Party candidate incumbent President John Quincy Adams and Democratic Party candidate Andrew Jackson. Andrew Jackson emerged as the winner, securing 178 electoral votes to John Quincy Adams’ 83 electoral votes.
