1860 Presidential Election: Abraham Lincoln Won✓

The 1860 United States presidential election was held on November 6, 1860. The election was a contest between Republican nominee Abraham Lincoln, Democratic nominee Stephen A. Douglas, Southern Democrats, John C. Breckinridge, and Constitutional Union nominee John Bell. Lincoln won a majority of the electoral votes, securing 180 to Douglas’ 12, Breckinridge’s 72, and Bell’s 39.
