The 1920 United States presidential election was held on November 2, 1920. It was a contest between Republican candidate Warren G. Harding, who had served in the U.S. Senate from Ohio, and Democratic candidate James M. Cox, who had served as the governor of Ohio. Harding secured 404 electoral votes to Cox's 127.
