1960 Presidential Election: John F. Kennedy Won✓

The 1960 United States presidential election was held on November 8, 1960. The election was a contest between Republican nominee Richard Nixon, who was then the Vice President, and Democratic nominee John F. Kennedy, who was a U.S. Senator from Massachusetts. The election was extremely close, with Kennedy winning the popular vote by just over 100,000. However, Kennedy secured 303 electoral votes to Nixon's 219.
